‘Going to make sure justice is served’: Father of Kal Fox speaks after woman arrested in son’s death

  • Updated

Brian Fox, Kal's father, expresses faith in the justice system and appreciation for community support.

A Huntsville woman has been indicted for reckless murder after allegedly hitting and killing 13-year-old Kallel Fox while he was riding his bicycle.

The grand jury's decision came after the incident at the intersection of Bailey Cove and Green Mountain Road in August. Authorities reported finding substances in Sara Oleson's car that are known to cause impairment. Oleson is currently out on a $45,000 bond.

Brian Fox, Kal's father, shared his thoughts on the situation. "Everyone describes it as a parent's worst nightmare and that is the reality," he said.

The Fox family is taking things day by day as they cope with the loss of their son. Brian Fox expressed gratitude for those who have helped advance the case. "I have real faith in the team on this that's going to make sure that justice is served and there is every indication that that’s the case," he said.

Despite the tragedy, the family is hopeful for justice. "At the end of the day, we are just terrifically burdened and saddened by the loss of our son, however that came about. Those details really don't matter," Brian Fox said.

As they approach their first holiday season without Kal, Brian Fox reflected on his son's love for the holidays. "He loved a lot of different aspects of holidays, especially just kind of getting outdoors, being with family and friends and enjoying all the food of course," he said.

The family appreciates the community's support during this difficult time. "This is such a hard journey. It's a little bit easier with all the support from the community and that includes the folks working the case, the churches, the schools," Brian Fox said.
