Critical mission piece built in Rocket City heads to the moon on Artemis II flight

NASA's historic launch of the Artemis II takes off on Wednesday and headed on that flight around the moon is a critical mission piece made right here in the Rocket City!

The Orion Stage Adapter was built and engineered at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville. The adapter connects to the SLS rocket's interim cryogenic propulsion stage to NASA's Orion spacecraft.

The Orion adapter will also carry experiments in what are called CubeSats. Five of them are from four other countries. Those experiments will study radiation environments, examine space weather, and test materials for lunar vehicles.
