UPDATE: Pedestrian injured in Huntsville hit-and-run was tow truck driver trying to recover vehicle

The Huntsville Police Department has released new details about a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with "serious injuries" Saturday night near the intersection of Memorial Parkway and Industrial Drive.

According to police, the pedestrian who was hit was a tow truck driver who was recovering a vehicle off the roadway when another vehicle failed to move over, drove up onto the bed of the wrecker, then came off and struck them.

Officers responded to the incident about 7 p.m. Saturday.

The victim sustained serious injuries, but police say they are currently in a non-life-threatening condition.

The vehicle that struck the victim left the scene, so this case remains under active investigation by HPD's General Crimes Unit.

Police say no arrests have been made at this time.

Officers on scene spoke with several witnesses after the crash, but anyone who may have seen the incident is asked to contact Investigator McCulley at 256-746-4133.
