Madison County families in need: Apply now for Salvation Army's Christmas help

The Salvation Army in Madison County is accepting applications for Christmas assistance from Oct. 6 to Oct. 31. Families in need of help with food and toys can apply online at .

"Christmas is our busiest time of the year," said Major Jayne May. "Our wish is that there wouldn鈥檛 be one child who doesn鈥檛 have a gift to unwrap on Christmas morning nor one family who won鈥檛 enjoy Christmas dinner."

In 2024, the organization helped more than 1,600 children in the area. The Salvation Army relies on community donations through Angel Trees, toy drives, food drives, and the Red Kettle Campaign to support their efforts.

"We hope that those who receive these gifts will see them not just as material assistance but that they will see them as expressions of God鈥檚 love for them at Christmas," May said.

Apply online and get more information . For those unable to apply online, The Salvation Army can be contacted at (256) 536-5576 during office hours before Oct. 17. Applications will be accepted until all slots are filled.
